Sheltering from the rain on the first Tuesday club walk since lockdown

Since 2019 Angela Daniels planned a short walk in Earlswood but after this long wait the as the day finally dawned the heavens opened.

Despite this her commitment to the Halesowen Ramblers, was rewarded with the rain subsiding, and a lovely walk was finally completed.

Ron Baker was one of the founding members of Halesowen Ramblers at its inauguration on the 27th of January 1986, with the help of Bob, Annis of Dudley Council.

Ron and his wife Dot took an active part from the beginning and his enthusiasm in all aspects of the Ramblers, enabled it to thrive, &  expand.

He organised and collated the walks program by persuading and cajoling members to become walk leaders, and overcome their nervousness to lead up to 40 members.

When he retired after many years, as secretary, he was sorely missed.

At the start of their adventure

Luggage was taken from hotel to hotel by the company with the 3 walkers just carrying a day pack. Most of the walking was done with an early morning start due to the afternoon heat  (well it was August!)

6 days of very enjoyable walking as part of Camino Ways (Dublin) package. Very easy to follow the signs so we didn't get lost! and we got our 'camino passport' stamped along way in order to get our certificate.

        Rolling countryside

Generally quite easy to medium walking with no steep hills but lovely countryside walking through small hamlets  and farms etc...plenty of places to rest up for a coffee or a beer!

Jon and Isobelle completed the last 111 km  section of the  Caino Frances from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain in August 2019
